I didn’t start fixing things because I wanted to.
I started fixing things because I had to.
I was a single mother on one income, and calling someone else every time something broke wasn’t always an option. Neither was waiting.
So I learned. Slowly, imperfectly, and sometimes the hard way.
Sometimes slowly.
Sometimes imperfectly.
Sometimes the hard way.
I fixed what I could with what I had — YouTube videos, borrowed tools, trial and error, and a lot of second-guessing. Sometimes that meant crawling under the house to fix a pinhole leak in a pipe. Sometimes it meant building a pergola or laying brick and flowers around a bare yard.
What surprised me most wasn’t just that I could do these things… it was how capable it made me feel.
Each small win built confidence.
That confidence spilled into every other part of my life.
Why I started sharing what I learned
When I was learning to fix things, I kept running into the same problem: most of the information out there assumed you already knew the basics.
Or it was rushed.
Or intimidating.
Or written in a way that made you feel behind before you even started.
I didn’t need perfection.
I needed someone to explain things clearly, honestly, and without talking down to me.
So She Fixes Things exists to be what I wish I’d had back then. I break things down step by step, explain the why behind the how, and never assume you already know the basics.
This is a place for women who want to try, learn, and feel capable — without being overwhelmed, judged, or made to feel like they should already know everything.
What “fixing things” really means here
Fixing things isn’t just about tools and repairs.
It’s about:
- figuring out what’s broken
- learning what’s within your control
- and building confidence one small win at a time
Here you’ll find:
- Home repairs explained simply, even if you’ve never held the tool before
- Beginner-friendly projects that don’t assume experience
- Homemaking skills that actually matter in real, busy life
- Tools, routines, and lessons I’ve learned the long way — so you don’t have to
Nothing here is about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about learning as you go and realizing you’re more capable than you think.
Who this is for
She Fixes Things is for:
- women who’ve had to figure things out on their own
- beginners who want clear guidance, not pressure
- moms juggling a hundred things and still wanting to learn
- anyone who’s ever thought, “I don’t know how… but maybe I could.”
If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
You don’t have to know everything to start
You don’t need to be handy.
You don’t need the right tools yet.
You don’t need confidence first.
You build confidence by starting.
I’m still learning too — and I share what works, what doesn’t, and what I wish I’d known sooner.
You’re not behind.
You’re not alone.
And you’re absolutely capable of fixing more than you think.
Welcome — I’m really glad you’re here.
